The Provincial Treasurer, W Bro Peter Elmont, PGSD has been recognised in the Queens New Year Honours List 2021. W Bro Peter has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to maritime safety. He has been chairman of Weston RNL’s fundraising branch since 2011 but was a member for many years before that. Further details of the award can be found at the Weston Mercury. In addition to being a member of Else Lodge MMM, Peter is Royal Ark Mariner in Nailsea Lodge No 1548. Following on from his BEM, the members of Nailsea RAM decided to donate £250 to Weston RNLI in recognition of Peter's work
At a specially convened Zoom meeting held on Tuesday, 15 December, the Pro Grand Master, M.W.Bro. Raymond John Smith, was delighted to confer promotion in, or first appointment to, Mark Grand Rank upon eighteen recipients of the Grand Master’s Special Award in recognition of their outstanding community service during Covid-19. Included in the number are W.Brothers David Dixon and Trevor Quartermaine of the Royal Cumberland Lodge TI for their work in conjunction with the Bath Square Meals project. The Provincial Grand Master hosted this evenings meeting for all members of the Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Degree, it was attended by over seventy five brethren, including Past PGM John Morgan and his new puppy! W.Bro Matt Westley won first prize for the fancy dress competition. Terry Hulbert won the Christmas quiz, well organised by Richard Conneely. Terry got eight out of ten correct which doesn't say much for the rest of us! The evening was rounded off by the PGM who gave a toast to absent brethren. A pleasant evening spent in good company!
