SIMON JOHNSON TAKES THE CHAIR AT 348 TAUNTON
As always the first meeting of the new masonic season for The Fidelity and Unanimity Lodge 348 is it’s Installation meeting at Taunton. This year our Worshipful Master, WBro Kieran Hughes was due to install Bro Simon Johnson into the Lodge Chair, however due to extreme pressure of work WBro Kieran had to advise the Lodge Secretary on the afternoon of the meeting that he had been called upon to work ( on call duty solicitor ) A number of quick phone calls resulted in the Lodge IPM, WBro Charlie Barker agreeing he would step in and would take over and become the Installing Master.
The Lodge was pleased to welcome WBro Darren Sinclair the Provincial Grand Senior Warden representing the PGM with WBro Steve McNaughton as his DC.
WBro Charlie as always produced an excellent ceremony installing Bro Simon into the Chair ably assisted by the officers of the Lodge. The Lodge was also pleased to welcome as a Joining Member WBro Clive Dunster, we hope he will spend many happy years with us.
There was one very sad note to the evening in that the Lodge had to say farewell to WBro Terry Wood PGSD. Terry passed to The Grand Lodge Above on 5th October. The eulogy given by WBro Rod Green reminded all those present of Terry’s 46 years as a member of the Lodge and his many years as the Lodge DC. He will be missed by all.
On the conclusion of the ceremony all retired to an excellent festive board. During the toast to the new Worshipful Master the Lodge was reminded that WBro Simon was a “Lewis” his late father being WBro Les Johnson who was WM in 1995. We feel sure that he would be extremely proud to see his son Simon, take the Chair of 348. We wish him a happy and successful year.
WBro Rod Green.
