Royal Ark Mariner News

Super Steve Gets the job

It was a special night at Exmoor RAM 697 in Minehead on Friday, 10th November, where nearly 30 Royal Ark Mariners attended, travelling in from Westbury, Bristol and Crewkerne!

After the Lodge was opened, the brethren warmly received the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Somerset, Anthony Guthrie, accompanied by Graham Bodman, Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies.

The main event was to Install the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies for Somerset, Steve McNaughton, into the Commander’s Chair of 697. Steve is a very well-known Freemason in the Province of Somerset, with many years of hard work and dedication!

The Installation was superbly done by the outgoing Worshipful Commander, Julyan Bloys, who was rapturously applauded and thanked for his four years as Worshipful Commander through some challenging times.

The Worshipful Commander then invested his officers in fettle. Afterwards, Tony Guthrie gave an inspiring address to the newly Installed Commander.

He then was called into further action to present a Grand Lodge Certificate to Keith Lloyd.

Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable time in the Temple, which will live long in the memory.

The brethren then retired to a lively and vibrant festive board where the wine and port were flowing!
