A new Mark Master Mason

At the recent meeting of the Royal Cumberland Lodge of Mark Master Masons Time Immemorial, Dougie Hunter was Advanced to the honourable degree of Mark Master Mason. The meeting was supported by a number of visitors who helped to fill offices.

It has been a while since the Lodge has had a candidate, but it now has several in the pipeline, with the next scheduled to be Advanced at the next meeting on the 8th of November, 2023.

Under the 1st Rising, the guest Director of Ceremonies, Graham Jeffery, was congratulated on being awarded Royal Ark Mariner Grand Rank.

Royal Cumberland Lodge of Mark Master Masons Time Immemorial is a ‘Banner Lodge’ and one of the five founding lodges of the Mark Degree, dating back to 1769. The founder is believed to be Thomas Dunkerly, the soon-to-be Provincial Grand Master of Somerset. Closely connected with Bath, he is credited with the Royal Cumberland Craft and Chapter Ritual. He is said to have conferred the degrees of Mark Mason and Mark Master on its brethren, some 100 years before the formation of Mark Grand Lodge.

An excellent festive board rounded off the meeting.
