Charlie Barker joins the RAM
It was an extremely busy night at 348 RAM on Friday, 12th January, at Taunton Masonic Hall. On the agenda, they had a visit from the Somerset Commanders Lodge, an Elevation ceremony, the receiving of two new joining members, and finally, the presentation of a Grand Lodge certificate!
The evening started well, with over 50 brethren attending. After the opening, the Lodge’s first item was to receive the Somerset Traveling Ark. This team was led by the Provincial Grand Master Philip Voisey, Immediate Past Commander of the Commanders Lodge. They did magnificently well, with 15 members supporting the visit.
Next on the agenda was an Exaltation ceremony for that well-known Somerset Mason, Charlie Barker. The Worshipful Commander was soon in his stride, and with members of the Lodge, he performed a word-perfect ceremony.
As soon as Charlie sat down, the Lodge was pleased to welcome two new joining members, Richard King from Sussex and David Hutchins from Berkshire. The Worshipful Commander then invited the PGM to present a Grand Lodge Certificate to Richard Winter, another well-known Somerset Mason.
After the evening’s events, the Scribe reminded the brethren that they had to deliver the Travelling Ark to Exmoor Lodge on Friday, 23rd February.
As always at Taunton, an excellent festive board was served, and Charlie gave an amusing response to his toast. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening enjoyed by all that attended!
