St Andrew's Lodge off the tee!
All were agreed, it was a truly memorable start for any Lodge! After months of hard work by many of the founders but particularly bey the founding secretary Mike Stratton and the founding Treasurer Roger Penny it was all systems go as the Lodge was Consecrated by the Provincial Grand Master, David Nelson.
The brethren involved in the rehearsal before the meeting, the founders and consecrating team started to assemble at Frome Masonic Hall at 9.00am. They enjoyed the obligatory coffee and bacon butty before beginning work! By 10.30 the hall was alive with one hundred Mark Master Masons also enjoying the bacon butties, ready for business to commence at 11am.
The Provincial Grand Master, David Nelson then proceeded to consecrate the Lodge in a very dignified and sincere manner. As part of the consecration Vernon Harding the Provincial Chaplain gave an excellent oration on the history golf and St Andrew. This was followed by the installation of the First Master, DPGM Ray Guthrie, who was ably installed by the Past DPGM Geoff Nash. The new Master then installed and invested his officers and gave a brief address thanking all those who had been involved in the founding of the new Lodge.
All brethren then retired to the dining room, where an excellent lunch of ham egg and chips followed by apple pie and ice cream was served. The usual toasts were observed and everyone wished the new Lodge well. Go to 1924 Lodge page for list of officers and copy of the oration.
