Exmoor Mark Lodge help local Doctors Surgery
On Thursday 16th March 2017, The Worshipful Master of the Exmoor Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 697, Clive Dunster, supported by the Lodge Charity Steward, Andy Hadley, Lodge Director of Ceremonies, Graham Gamble and the oldest member of the Lodge, John Lendon (unusually camera-shy on this occasion!) presented a cheque for £300 to Dr. Ian Kelham as a charitable donation for use by the Friends of Dunster Surgery.
This new surgery, together with its sister surgery in Porlock, is at the forefront of the district's medical needs, supporting most of Exmoor and the Brendon Hills area.
The Dunster Surgery was established in the mid 1800's, when the Doctor attended patients on horseback. The two sites now care for over 6000 patients, so home visits are less common, but are now dealt with rather more efficiently, often by means of a 4x4 vehicle.
As can be seen in the photographs, the patient facilities are cutting edge for a modern country practice.
