21st June 2019 - Mark Golf Day at The Isle of Wedmore Golf Club.

Fifty two golfers met at the Isle of Wedmore Golf Club for the 14th annual Mark Golf day. After a month of poor weather the day was gloriously sunny and the course in great shape, unlike most of the golfers!
The event is always a very enjoyable, fun days golf, well supported by Somerset and Wiltshire brethren.
Our new Provincial Grand Master Phil Voisey joined us to present the prizes. Well done to all those who won a prize and a special thank you to the very hard working organisers Eric Kellett and Richard Stone.

The Results:

Second Place - Jim Gooding, the Wiltshire Lad! with 36 points.

  • 22nd June 2018 - Mark Golf Day at The Isle of Wedmore Golf Club.

    Fifty six golfers met at the Isle of Wedmore Golf Club for the 13th annual Mark Golf day. It was lucky thirteenth! A fantastic sunny day with the golf course in excellent condition. As usual there was some keen competition and much golfing banter at the meal following the Match.
    The event is always a very enjoyable, fun days golf, well supported by Somerset and Wiltshire brethren.
    The Provincial Grand Master John Morgan presented the prizes. Well done to all those who won a prize and a special thank you to the very hard working organisers Eric Kellett and Richard Stone.

    Second Place - Mike Edgar with 42 points.
    Third Place went to last years winner, Martyn Russell who had 39 points.

  • 16th January 2017 - St Andrew's Tee off with a new Master!

    45 members and their guests were in attendance this evening at Midsomer Norton Masonic Hall to witness W.Bro Roger Penny install his successor Ray Conneely in an exemplary manner. The lodge was honoured by the presence of W.Bro Ian Anderson the Provincial Grand Senior Warden accompanied by Mark Golding the Provincial Director of Ceremonies. The festive board afterwards was furnished by Tony Cooper with the traditional fagotts! Not for the feint hearted but a great time was had by all.

  • 18th July 2016 -Lodge meeting at Keynsham

    It was a pleasant warm sunny afternoon at Saltford Golf Club and the course was in excellent condition. Twenty four members and guests teed off in three balls for the annual bowler competition.
    The golf was followed by a Lodge meeting held at Keynsham Masonic Hall when the candidate Bro Gary Prater was advanced to the honourable degree of Mark Master Mason.

  • 17th June 2016 Mark Golf Day held at Yeovil GC

    A record 62 golfers gathered Yeovil for the 11th annual Mark Golf day. As usual there was some keen competition and the golfing banter at the meal following the Match.
    It was a very enjoyable, fun days golf, well supported by Somerset and Wiltshire brethren. Yeovil Golf course was in excellent condition and the weather was kind, just a few showers.
    Yeovil GC provided an excellent carvery meal after which the our Provincial Grand Master John Morgan presented the prizes.
    Many thanks to organisers Eric Kellett and Richard Stone.

  • 18th January 2016 Installation meeting

    Masonic Hall at Midsomer Norton was almost filled with Mark Master Masons who had come to see Roger Penny installed as Master. The principal guest was the Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro John Morgan who was accompanied by W.Bro Graham Howell as his D.C.
    Roger Hutchens the Installing Master thanked all the brethren of St Andrew’s for their help in making his year special, three happy meetings, two candidates and some reasonable golf! On behalf of the Lodge he presented a £500 cheque to the Provincial Grand Master for his “Hope for tomorrow appeal”. He went on to install his successor in fine style.
    On taking the chair Roger Penny installed his officers and following the customary addresses closed the Lodge when the brethren retired to the dining room.
    The traditional St Andrew’s Installation fayre of Sweet pepper & chorizo soup followed by faggots and mushy peas was enjoyed by all but the sausage eaters! Many thanks to Tony Cooper for his skill in the kitchen!
    After the meal John Morgan, PGM thanked the brethren for their contribution to his appeal, the donation had taken the total so far to nearly £10,000 almost two thirds of the way to his target.

  • 20th July 2015 meeting at Bridgwater

    Regular Meeting - 20th July 2015.
    Brother Terry Hulbert proved to be an excellent candidate this evening, he said he had enjoyed both the golf at Enmore Park prior to the meeting and his ceremony of advancement. The meeting was at Bridgwater MH and was ably conducted by the Master, Roger Hutchings assisted by his officers. Unfortunately Terry wasn’t among the winners, the were (l to r) Tony Guthrie, Ian Pamplin and Harvey Piper won won the Bowmaker Trophy with a massive 83 points, a full ten points clear of the rest of the field!

    50 golfers gathered on a sunny day at Orchardleigh for the ninth annual Mark Golf day. As usual there was some keen competition and the golfing banter at the meal following the Match. Our Provincial Grand Master, although not a golfer joined us for the meal and presented the prizes. The Results:

    Before the presentation of the prizes the Organiser of the day Eric Kellett had presented a cheque for £300 to the John Morgan, PGM for his Hope for tomorrow appeal. Although the day is not organised as a charity event, careful management meant that some money had been accumulated over the years. The PGM thanked Eric and the golfers for supporting his appeal. As the event has always been very well supported by the brethren of Wiltshire a cheque for £100 was presented to John Boland for onward transmission to the Wiltshire Mark Benevolent Fund.

    Installation Meeting - 19th January 2015.
    It was an excellent evening of good ritual and good humour when W.Bro Roger Hutchings, the Provincial Senior Grand Warden was Installed in the Chair of the Lodge by W.Bro Geoff Seaman. During the evening the members approved donations of £500 each to Weston Hospicecare and Ups and Downs, a charity that helps those with Downs Syndrome.

    Despite the inclement weather and the possibility of further snow, forty four Mark Master Masons from across the Province attended the Installation of Alec Carter as the new Master of St Andrew's Lodge. The ceremony was carried out in a very capable manner by Tony Guthrie the outgoing Master who then took on the role of secretary of the Lodge.
    Both the Provincial Grand Master, David Nelson and his Deputy John Morgan were present along with the Provincial Senior and Junior Wardens, David Lyons and Phil Voisey.
    Everyone enjoyed an excellent festive board afterwards followed by the usual toasts with the normal banter and good humour.
